SDG4 Quality Education for all
The Mobile Library
On ninth of November, Two thousand nine,
The morning was sunny and bright n just fine.
Mission literacy was to hear a new tale,
When born was a school, called Tulipdale.
The founders had vision of giving education,
To learners who were of just first generation.
Dependent wholly on school were those kids,
Some loving teachers took them as seeds.
Making them bloom, became their goal,
Into their lessons they put heart n soul.
Day in and day out they inspired a passion,
And readied the kids for holistic education.
Support at home, the poor kids had none,
They loved their school where lessons were fun.
The onus now was to let this love prevail,
The Tuips were ready to bloom in the dale.
The butcher, the tailor, the roadside stall owner,
The hawker, the grocer, the local fish monger,
Were all proud parents whose kids now could all,
Read n speak English, do sums big and small.
Literacy n Numeracy walking hand in hand,
More kids from suburbs kept joining our band.
Trained now to use EVS wherever they could,
They tried now to make better, their neighborhood.
The Tulipians now had a new role to play,
Mission literacy being still a long way.
Lot of time gone, all needed to hurry,
Hence started Project, Mobile Library.
There were still kids who could not reach books,
BOOKS WILL REACH THEM, was the pledge that we took.
Knowing the neighborhood, we thought out a plan,
Of a MOBILE LIBRARY in a rickshaw van.
The vehicle was so simple and familiar,
The children approached it without any fear.
The rickshaw was decked up with balloons colourful ,
Streamers and posters of Tulipdale School.
Two transparent boxes of colorful books,
Lent the library, the re quired look.
Seated in the van was one teacher storyteller,
Another teacher there was to act as the lender.
Together it all made a beautiful whole,
Mobile Library was bang on the roll.
The rickshaw went on along alleys and lanes,
To such remote corners where ignorance reigns.
Kids n Olds alike came running to hear,
Stories of things and lands far and near.
Local clubs played the good Samaritan,
The club room was used to further the mission.
Those that were eager to just take a look,
We insisted them to come borrow a book.
This way we triggered an interest in them,
Eager they were to learn writing their name.
Learning to read, write, hear stories as well,
Love for the ML was now on a swell.
We have just started, lot remains to be done,
But Mobile Library is going great gun.
confused - what to write -just beyond words!
